I feel for the most part that i put emotion into my papers. I try to write in a way that will inspire my readers. Sometimes i do not see both sides to a story which makes it harder for me to write. I am hoping to improve on that when i continue on in English. I also am good at using exmples to show the reader that what i am trying to prove or make a point of has happened before. English has always been a passion of mine because it gives me the opportunity to express my feelings on paper rather than in person because that sometimes is a sore subject for me. I only hope to improve on my bad english habits and keep writing expressively as i do.

Summary and Analysis:Should English be the official language in the USA?
by Eric LaRedd
In Eric's writing he talks about how English should become the official language of the United States and he states this with strong passion. He states that the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, even our own American dollar bill are all written in English. English is spoken by our government officials who run our country, shouldn't this be some kind of clue to what language should be held official? By requiring the immigrants that are coming into our country to learn our language, it will create respect toward one another and also strengthen the communication. There are many different types of people throughout the U.S. that stand on different levels. This needs to change so that our goal for America to continue to advance as a country can be achieved. There was a poll taken in June of 2006 that showed 85 percent of Americans support making English the official language of the United States.
There are even people from other countries that vote English is required in order to succeed in the world. Among those people that voted agreement upon the survey are major producers of goods that are sold throughout the American economy. Eric LaRedd says that by naming English as the official language of our country, we move one step closer to becoming a country, consisting of many people from many different backgrounds, yet united as one, communicating as one, toward a better future! The author has a good sense of logos, pathos and also ethos. He gives clear reasoning to the article that he writes about. While LaRedd is showing evidence he is doing it with emotion that comes from the heart. Finally it is easy to be credible with LaRedd because he has statistics to back himself up.
Analysis
I feel that any normal person that is surfing the net can access this information of article/blogs that different authors are presenting. I feel that it really makes the authors think about the effort they put into the writing because anybody can read this information. In order to have more readers you have to be true to your word. For instance if you didn't know what the hell you were talking about and you decide to write a article and post it...well if you don't have good ethos then you may no longer have an audience. I think that the only weakness in this article is that LaRedd could of make it clear that by making English the official language it does not mean that immigrants can't speak their own languages anymore. This is not true...you may speak any language you choose in your own home and also still raise your child teaching that language. Making English official just means that you are required to know that English so that it makes it easier for everybody to communicate. The strengths in this article is that LaRedd used strong statistics to back up what he wanted to prove to his audience. Paper 1
The English language has been the language of the United States since it has been claimed by the English people. Everything in our history such as the Declaration of Independence , the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, even the American dollar is written in nothing else but english. It would only be right after the history of the Englishman in the U.S. to welcome it as the official language. Our government is what runs our systems throughout America. In order for our businessman and government officials to inform citizens of economic issues they need to tell them in a way that they understand. The government officials speak proudly with the language of English as well as most of our fellow Americans. The most important goal in America is to succeed and continue to advance as a country. For that to happen citizens of the U.S. need to stand their grounds and let immigrants from other countries give respect by learning the official language of our Nation.
By giving the respect to the American born citizens it will bring the people from different ethnic backgrounds together as one. This could actually lower the level of violence and racial slurrs that are batted toward one another. This way people will better understand one another. Indeed there had been a decline in racial controversial issues but it does still exist. Something needs to be done in our futures for us to be able to communicate in stable terms.
There is an astounding number of citizens that claim our official language should be English.Who could care to disagree when the mass majority of us Americans speak English. Our country has to look out for itself and the best way fits is the communication of one another to create harmony for everyone.
It is not only American born citizens that feel that english should be the official language. There was a survey that conducted 66,000 people from different countries that agreed with this debate.(LaRedd) A statement from that particular survey was "Children need to learn English to succeed in the World today." Our Nation is very powerful and we stand for freedom. There are numerous amounts of people from different countries that would die to live the life of a normal citizen from the United States.
Ultimately, by granting the official language to be English this only means that immigrants coming into the United States are required to know the English language for communication purposes. There are too many instances dealing with controversy when trying to communcate with foreignors. For instance I used to work at Burger King as a front cashier which meant i would take orders in the dining area. One day I had a group of Mexicans that were trying to place an order and suddenly I realized that they only spoke Spanish. I did not currently have any experience with a foreign language and felt immediate embarassment when the Mexicans began to laugh at me. I could not understand them and had to find somebody that could translate the order for me. I never want to be put in a position such as this again which is why I definately agree with making English the official language. On the other hand immigrants can still speak their own language in the U.S., that is perfectly alright. As American citizens we are not trying to corrupt other languages, we just want to set a guideline on communication. What people do inside their homes is totally up to them. By naming English the official language of our country, we move one step closer to becoming a country, consisting of many people from many different backgrounds, yet united as one, communicating as one, towards a better future.(LaRedd)

"Brute"
Definition: The state of acting like an animal; lacks respect and feelings toward others
I feel that the patient was the brute because he is a perfect example of this definition. The patient was out of control and would not listen to anybody until the doctor restrained him and then he regained himself after being put in his place. The doctor had no other way of going about a better solution with the limited time that he had on his hands.

Temptations Can be a Good Thing
The world today is filled up with all kinds of fast food restaurants. There is a fast food franchise for any food a certain person is craving for. To top that off, the food is ready in a matter of no time at all. It is simple and easy for those that are on the go or for those who are just too lazy to cook a nice meal at home. This is when temptations come I into play. When it is so easy to go through the Drive Thru to save time people do not think about the consequences. To define temptations is to entice to do something that is wrong by promise of pleasure or gain. Everyone knows that by statistics of the fat calories in fast food that it should not be eaten on a daily basis. This indeed will lead to obesity. That is a major problem in the United States in the last decade. It is hard for most people to overcome their temptations. That is why this persuasive essay is important. “When the word temptations comes to mind, people instantly assume it is bad but if the choice is determined correctly it could very well be made into a good thing when the temptation is finally overcome and you may feel very proudly of yourself while the self confidence level goes sky rocket!” It is that much more enticing when the temptation that is luring is overcome. If more people would slow down on the habits of a greasy burger and fries- the more physically healthy they would feel. It would also lower the health risks that pertain to this argument.
Temptations don’t only come from health issues, they are determined according to what particularly itches at somebody to participate in which he/she knows it is wrong. Some examples include (seduction, rebellion, and narcotics issues). Each of these temptation issues override boundary lines and could leave somebody in a crucial predicament. Otherwise each person should take into consideration what they think may be a temptation and strive to work against that. It may seem impossible at first hand but work at what is believed to be for the better sake of yourself. It will be worth the effort when it pays off in the end.
I was once thought of as a rebel in my early teenage years. My father, the one who I lived with, was particularly strict when it came to doing anything outside of school. His intentions for me were to concentrate on my homework and to stay out of trouble. Because he wanted to shelter me from everything I felt an urge to rebel against his wishes. I was at a stage where I wanted to hang with all my friends- even worse I wanted to be cool and hang with the older crowd. So after my parents would fall asleep I would sneak out of the house. After a few times of doing this I eventually got caught. I also started getting letters sent home notifying my father that my grades were falling. My teachers knew that this wasn’t normal behavior. Finally, my father did not like the guy that I was dating and would continuously tell me to end it with him. He knew that this guy wasn’t good enough for me but being young makes love blind.
This brief story of my childhood is intended to show people the outlook on a rebellious issue of temptation. I was temped to go against my fathers rules to make myself happy. This was not the right decision to make because it only got me into trouble with both my parents and my school work. I also soon realized what kind of person my boyfriend was and dumped him anyways. I guess the saying is right “ Fathers know what is best for their daughters.” if I would have listened to my father from the beginning, I would have dodged trouble I got myself into.
This is an example of how difficult it may be to overcome a temptation. Peer pressure is a prime factor. That is the importance of self confidence and whether or not a satisfactory outcome is on the agenda. Everyday people just like me make the mistake of giving into their temptations but that does not mean that is it the end of the world. It is the importance of learning from that mistake and moving on. I am a better person now and am striving to be successful. In some cases doing the wrong thing and then learning from that mistake is what will make that person stronger and more intelligent for future experiences in life. Remember that temptations are not necessarily always a bad thing, it could be for the better sake of an individual to experience and take from that a lesson well learned.
The paper that i currently wrote for word choice was on temptations. My purpose was to explain to my audience that temptations are not necessarily always a bad thing. The definition of this term is to do something intentionally that you know is wrong if it may promise pleasure or gain. My argument is

to show that by overcoming a temptation brings self condifence and pleasure as well, knowing that you have made the right decision. But also i mentioned in my paper that if a person does make the mistake of giving into a temptation, which most people eventually do, that it is good because you have atleast learned what not to do. It is the experiences in life that make the personality of each individual. Mistakes are made each day but life will still goes on. People learn from their mistakes and maybe even make them more intelligent. I chose to make this an arugement because in knew people would be interested in knowing how temptations can be a good thing rather than bad. The strategies did indeed help write my paper because that is what my paper was based on. I also have plenty of intentionally uses of logos, pathos, and ethos. They are great in helping to put together a paper. I used past expiences in my paper to help relate to my audience by feelings, so maybe they would understand me better. I also used character to help persuade my side of the argument.
Questions for Proposal
Should the United States have National Healthcare?
I know that our country as of right now does not have healthcare. Although there are lots of other medical coverages that most people take advantage of. Even people that are unemployed for a short amount of time can usually get ahold of plans such as medicaid and others as well. i would like to know what specific plans people can qualify for exactly and under what terms. This may give me a better idea of where i stand on this issue.
Why is it that National Healthcare strikes us as an issue to be discussed?
There are some cases where people do not have insurance and htis is why they think there should be National Healthcare. As United States citizens we should never leave anybody outside the hospital doors if they are in need of a doctor. no matter what the circumstances are, we are citizens that help one another and do not give up on each other. I would like to find out circumstances where hospitals have turned down a patient and how they could do such a thing,.
What kinds of people are for or against the National Healthcare issue and for what reasons?
I would like to dig deep and figure out who in particular are for or against National Healthcare. There has to be reasoning to both sides of the issue. Also where might these citizens or leaders stand and how far can they go to prove themselves to be right. There is always situations that may happen to a person or maybe just hearsay to convince them to be on either side. What might the cost effectiveness be if we did have National Healthcare is a good question to consider.
